Publications on (post) Soviet popular music

*** This page is no longer updated – for an updated list please

We thought it might be useful to compile a list of academic publications on (post) Soviet popular music. This, of course, does not mean that we share the views and conclusions of all the mentioned authors. We will update this list continuously, so if you know of some missing publications, please let us know (last updated: 30.06.2010).

I have not read many of the books listed, but I do have MacFayden's...and highly recommend it, it is a very thorough study of estrada and concerns both the artists' biographies and their music. Thanks for this list, I'll have to look for some of these books!

Soviet popular music group said...

Hello David-Emil and Sergio,

this is a very impressive reading list. I thought it would be a good idea to also put it on zotero so that people can use it in their citation management software. I've started a group on soviet popular music there and it would be great if you guys would join.
